7:00 am
millania about this, she's standing right there let's go. >> straight up 7:00 o'clock, hi everybody. so, sure this is a nuisance storm the weather people like to say that. >> it is. >> it is anything. it is pretty. when i got up at 4:30 i looked out my window. that is my kitchen window. look at the pretty trees. >> what a beautiful view good what was that guy's name that painted the trees. >> those are puffy clouds. >> those are pretty little trees. >> alex, i wanted to say hi to you too. >> really. >> yes. >> i stopped halfway into work. >> oh, no. >> it is coming. >> it is really worth the wait. >> ahh. >> yes. >> how nice of you. >> so nice you didn't speak to me when you walk in. >> i need coffee first. >> but that is the extent of the storm. >> yes. >> dusting. >> sometimes just enough to make a mess and further south,
7:01 am
the more it is piling up in delaware and southern new jersey. tricky travel in someplace these morning. a four out of ten. the bus stop buddy is off to a snowy start as well. we have temperatures in the the 20's and 30's out there this morning. the just about everybody is below freezing. you will see heavier snow in sus connection county delaware, cape may county and even in delco, parts of the philadelphia, we're seeing steady snow. they are still there, 32 degrees, feels like 24. we had sunrise at 6:29 this morning. the sun will return by lunchtime, wind will pick up for a little while but we will calm down tonight and it will be a cold one but at least it been dry for stepping out first fry, bob kelly. >> you got it, stepping up and out on a friday morning. 7:01. we're having some trouble with our maps. we will hit button and bam, right there in the second, we will see, watch it, boom, right there, i-95 southbound a disable tractor trailer, center lane here at girard
7:02 am
avenue. we are causing a major jammo from academy on down. take not the scrapers but the brush, the brush or the broom and clean up all of the snow off the cars and trucks before you get out of the driveway. even the big tractor trailers, you have to get all of that snow, careened off there. >> is that a beer truck. >> exactly. >> move him to the right. an example of the poor visibility this is center city, vine street expressway where it looks like it is picking up a notch there you can barely make out brake lights. in south jersey in the last ten or 15 minutes getting hit with a little pocket here. we have snow flakes coming around but notice what is happening. it is only sticking to the grass surface and the major roadways, they have been treated yesterday with the brine, crews out there putting down the salt but still it will take i longer this morning to get there then yesterday. thirty-five up and overall of the area bridges, and the major roadways are wet,
7:03 am
passable and slippery on and off ramps and secondary roads an inside streets. less traveled roadways are less treated and things could get dicey during the morning rush. >> this remind me of the wedding photo, steve keeley in one frame, jen fred in the other frame coming together to work on this snow coverage. >> that is the face she made on her wedding night. >> lets start with steve. >> see mike you perpetuate that disgusting lie, she's on the show yesterday, i don't even watch the show but she was on the show yesterday at 9:00. reason i know she talking about her husband steve. she just can't say my husband so everybody thinks that is me. i immediately respond to the text e-mails saying give me some credit, i cannot the do any better than that. >> oh , steve, my gosh. >> his brain is frozen. >> mike is our shot frozen,
7:04 am
well, that is right. >> no, he is talking about your brain. >> look at the top of the revel. they lit the sphere on top and fit was lit you wouldn't be able to tell because it is lost in the low hanging clouds here n1 is on the boardwalk. i have atlantic city all to myself. that is how desserted it is. that is trump taj mahal where you see blinking lights, tv monitors on the boardwalk. not a single footprint on the boardwalk. is there steel pier. we have got 2 inches of accumulation. this is heaviest, biggest snow flakes have fallen all day. that guy just shut the gate. the lets show you the boardwalk and the beach here, what is left of the erosion and beach here in the atlantic city beach, of course, it is snow covered. greg will work out beyond all of the metal equipment and give you a look at the ocean at this hour and not bad, compared to where it looks when we were here just a couple weeks ago during the storm when waves were kicking
7:05 am
up 25 feet and above but you can see damage to is what left of the beach here. lot the at fence here next to the garden pier, smashed and it the is a drop down right here. this was called revel beach when revel was still opened but this is first time i have seen the beach this winter after being down here because usually ocean water is up so high. you can see sand, very calm shore. not a lot of waves but the salt in the water and sandy beach does not melt the snow. so the snow really is sticking here and so a lot of the roads too, in atlantic city. so take it easy. there the is opened trump taj mahal and make out red neon word trump, that is a name and face that you will see on this show quite a bit today i have a feeling. >> that is for sure because of the debate. look at that erosion that pipe is supposed to be covered up going into the ocean with sand of course and it is just exposed. split is, right over there.
7:06 am
7:05. let's get to jen in wilmington. not as much snow but they are seeing it coming down. >> you you know, even if there was this much snowy wouldn't complain bit and cry bit like some people do. we are in wilmington. the just as predicted, just as sue serio had said it would happen the snow is certainly coming down. she also predicted because it will be warmer today, it would not stick. that is exactly what we're seeing now. the as you can see some of the cars who potentially could becoming from the southern part of the delaware, they still have a bit of snow on them but i can tell you that early this morning at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning when we were coming into work simply if you turned on your windshield wipers you could get the snow off of your windshield, roll those windows down and to get the snow off of that. so although there is some snow it isn't that bad. mighty say ladies and
7:07 am
gentlemen it is not just a nuisance storm mike and alex, it is when steve keeley is on, we have nuisance news. >> nuisance coverage. >> thank you. >> i gotcha. >> all right, jen, keep your shot up we like to use it throughout the morning. thank you. 7:07. brutal murder inside a cafe and bistro in south philadelphia. >> yeah, parentally the cook who was down in the kitchen downstairs literally, slaughtered, while customers were waiting upstairs for their food. >> dave kinchen is joining us with the the details, horrible. >> reporter: that is right, mike and alex. the customers were not only waiting for take off on the first floor but on the second floor they were actually dining when all of this took place, for at or around the time took place. the the 911 call came in from this chinese/vietnamese restaurant here in south philadelphia at fifth and washington here. philadelphia police say that lee's cafe and bistro was opened for business when a 911 call came in reporting a 54
7:08 am
year-old woman found dead in the kitchen whiz was in the basement. cops say it appears that there was a struggle between the victim who worked there as a cook and the attack, sources tell us that the victim was working with another person, prepping, food for people waiting upstairs, and at some point someone went downstairs to see what was happening and that is pennsylvania apparently when was made. they say five customers and four workers were inside when that call came in, to the the police, detectives and homicide at homicide are interviewing people in the restaurant last night. again, restaurant opened when this was happened. no leads. police don't have have a motive. what they to have potential for is surveillance video in this area because there are a lot of restaurant or businesses that have cameras that may have caught something. police say all of the workers here of not been accounted for as of early this morning but they don't know if they are looking for a worker or a customer. they don't necessity who this
7:09 am
suspect is but the search, continues, back to you you. >> all right. it is snowing there at fifth and washington. >> reporter: yes, it is. more of the same from the republicans at last night's debate. most talked about moment didn't have anything to do with politics really. >> this sound like something right up chris murphy's alley. >> that is right along with our hands this morning there was no holding back. donald trump was focus of a desperate effort to block his possible nomination. and in true trump fashion he responded, with some really interesting statements. >> he hit my hand. nobody has ever hit my hand. look at those hands. are they small hands. and he referred to my hands, that therefore something else must be small. i guarantee you there is in problem. i guarantee. >> have you ever heard such discourse in a political arena? that was in response, of course to marco rubio making fun of the size of donald trump's hands earlier this
7:10 am
week f we remember correctly donald trump drew first blood by making remarks about the size of marco rubio's ears saying they were very large. really has it come to this. final four candidates spent a lot of the time jockeying for time and plenty of interruptions. >> donald please, i know it is hard not to interrupt. >> that is not the what you said. lying ted, lying ted. >> breathe, breathe, breathe you can do it. i know it is hard. just, remember -- >> when they are done with yoga, can i answer a question. >> no, you cannot. >> you never know. >> rubio steel the show with that, right. then there was moment we were all waiting for trump and moderator megan kelly meeting again at a debate after trump skipped last one due to her harsh criticism of him. >> mr. trump. >> hi. >> hello. >> how are you doing. >> nice to be with you megan you are looking well.
7:11 am
>> so are you. >> she looked fantastic. >> yes. >> she went have after him on many counts on his past business practices, coming up at 7:30, political experts will join us to weigh in on these candidates and big question are any of them, now viable for the g.o.p. nomination. as lou at this guy waiting in the wings to be asking the question is john kasich, seen here. >> yes he seemed like the only adult in the room. >> he said i'm an adult. i will not jump in and get involved with yoga and hand talk. >> he got the quite a rousing round of applause when he said that too. >> before last night, thanks chris. before last night's debate the 2012 g.o.p. nominee mitt romney speaking out. >> speaking out or slamming him. >> almost barking at him. >> he said in way donald trump should be president. >> let me put it very plainly. if we republicans choose donald trump as our nominee the prospects for a safe, and prosperous future are greatly
7:12 am
diminished. >> if done old responded at a campaign will rally by reminding everyone that romney, begged for his endorsement. for his endorsement back in 2012. >> really he was begging for my endorsement. i could have said mitt romney drop tour knees and he would have dropped to his knees. >> well, donald was asked about romney's comments at last night's debate. one of the first questions. you'll hear his response in a bit. but first we have a big game tomorrow, ladies and gentlemen. villanova has locked up the top seed for big east tournament which starts next week. >> before that they have one final regular season game to play tomorrow and they will host georgetown at the wells fargo center. head coach jay wright joining us live from the wells fargo center. you are already there ready for the game. >> early. >> good morning, guys. we're going go to proper here
7:13 am
this morning and get ready because it is a 12:00 o'clock game tomorrow so we like to get in early the day before and get our work out in. we're on spring break so our guys don't have anything else to do. >> i'm sure they are thrilled to be up to this early. >> is that them, and they are practicing for georgetown. >> no, you know what, alex, i hope these were our guys, these were some employees, here at the center and if our guys are playing like this, we're going to be in trouble but i admire them. >> come on, coach. >> they had to have been here since 6:00 in the morning. i admire them. they have been here for a while. >> they do this pick up game almost every day. >> coach jay wright's team is in better shape than those guys. >> yes. >> okay. you were number one seed in the big east tournament in the garden. how do you get them siked up for a game like georgetown because i guess you don't really need it. >> yeah, you know what, it is,
7:14 am
a little bit of a challenge, mike but georgetown/villanova is always a big time game at wells fargo center. it is sold out for tomorrow's game. it is the last home game of the season, and so i think our guys just appreciate the chance to play in this great rivalry and they will be ready to go. >> well, when you play georgetown what is a hoyas. >> yes, a what exactly is a hoyas, have you learned that. >> i know they have a great little mascot that is cute as hell. i know when they play down there they put him on the scooter and he goes the whole length of the court. i always watch that. i'm not sure if the doggies the hoya. >> no, that was a football coach back in the the 20's that had a bull dog on the field so they just kept it. hoya thing has to do with it is latin and greek, and it goes far back and it is just stupid. coach wright, as you leave
7:15 am
us here on "good day philadelphia", what are the other v schools, there is seven other schools that start with v who play college division one basketball can you name them. >> wow. vanderbilt. >> yeah. >> valparaiso. >> yes are. >> vermont. >> vcu. >> stay in virginia. >> oh, virginia, that is a good one. what am i missing. >> a school just south of virginia. >> we said vcu. >> yeah. >> we sand vandy. >> hookie. >> vmi and virginia tech. >> ladies and gentlemen. >> good help, mike.
7:16 am
our wild cat always need a jay hawk to help us out, buddy. >> i haven't check the ap, who is number one. >> why do you do that to me man. how can do you that to me. >> that is right. >> they are a great team. bill self has done an amazing job with that team. they deserve it right now, they do and that is why we play the tournament. we will see. we would love to bang head because if we did, it would be really far down the line and that is where it the should happen. >> if you guys make it through the first round or something, will you be able to play in philadelphia if you get that number one seed. >> yeah, we could. so, there is a lot to it but we would have to, and be the number one team seed in the east, and be able to come back here and play in the second round. so still a lot of work to do, but it is possible. it is possible.
7:17 am
>> coach, you have done a magnificent job this year. >> good luck. >> thanks for being on our show. >> thanks, guys, we appreciate fox support. fox has been great to us and great to the big east. >> happy to do it. >> you can watch the game right here on fox. >> it will be on at noon. >> it is noon games. >> yes. >> we will be watching. >> i'll watch, that is for sure but sometimes it is hard to get up for a noon game. >> okay. >> i am talking about the the players, i'm talking about the players. >> i will probably watch from bed. >> yes. >> if they can't get up for a noon game, they get up for classes, do you remember 8:00 o'clock classes. >> i always skipped those. >> sue, i bet you went to your 8:00 a.m. class. >> i made all my classes earl will i because they were once i could get in. i have always been a morning person. i'm a morning person. look it is snowing in chadds ford, thanks, assistant news
7:18 am
director, always on the job. and look at how much it is piling up in mace landing in atlantic county. just as if there isn't much on the ground here it doesn't mean it is not snowing a lot here. as we predicted with this storm centered to the south, south of us, is there heavier snow and in burlington county it looks like it is picking up in intensity. so we will give you a look at philadelphia there and a look at some updated snowfall totals, 4 inches in milton, delaware, 1.2 in barnegat township, nottingham chester county, 1.4. millville has 2 inches and lewis delaware an inch and a half. it is 32 degrees in philadelphia we will head to a high of 40. we have a few more hours of this snow to go and mostly cloudy skies. the saturday into sunday light precipitation and then we will begin our warming trend, 50's on monday, 60's on tuesday, and then 70's by wednesday of next week before a cold front bring this rain on thursday. so that is your seven day forecast, bob kelly, it hasn't
7:19 am
eased up a lot. >> it hasn't. >> messy. >> been messy. we started off good but it looks like we have gone downhill here because we are starting to see the volume pop now, folks are getting out there respect the road surface even though it looks wet it could be slippery. look at this fellow off the roadway spun around down the embankment. this is i-95 southbound right before the delaware state line. i-95 northbound an accident at an off ramp at 202 for gang heading down to ai du pont hospital for children. look out there southbound lanes of i-95, out of northeast philadelphia, jammo from academy all the way down into girard. we have a disable tractor trailer in the center lane of the construction zone. delays popping at the airport philly international, 17 minutes average delays on the tote board, check with the airline before you head down there, and i just sent a message over to the airport,
7:20 am
they are deicing the planes with the weather. that will add an instant 15 or 20 minutes if they are deicing this morning. bridge speeds down to 35 across all of our area bridges, an accident eastbound on the the pennsylvania turnpike, jammed up heading in to downingtown that is route the 100 there and south jersey is getting hit hard with snow right now, north on 55, an accident, near the vineland interchange, here's a live look at the 42 freeway. snow sticking to the the grass surface not impacting the road surface, but it is still slippery. clean up all that snow from the roof and hood and trunk of your car before you roll out of the driveway. mike and alex, back to you. good news as you head to work today, it is employee appreciation day, yeah, find out why employees at one tech company though have extra reason to celebrate this morning. big time. you win lottery last night?
7:21 am
7:22 am
7:23 am
7:24 am
yeah, moving vehicle we are heading north bound on i-95 heading to the state line of pennsylvania. we will go right into center city and see how ride is going for you. 7:24. it is employee appreciation day a across the nation, over 9,000 workers got the to share their boss's bonus. what company is this? is this fox. >> yes, you didn't get part of the bonus from rupert? no. it is linkedin. >> no. >> it is linkedin. the company is not doing well. they put out a terrible earnings report. stock price is down 48 percent since the start of the year, but, the ceo is getting his 14 million-dollar stock bone to us all 9200 linkedin employees. which breaks down to $1,500 worth of stock each, in the
7:25 am
bad. >> yes. >> i would take $1,500 right now, that is for sure. >> i know. he wants to keep talented ones from jumping ship. >> so is what the staff at linkedin at this point. >> it is not doing so well. late last month they put out a earnings report. the report was so bad in one day the stock plumeted 40 percent. the that is a big deal that you see something like that. >> okay. ill will's look for bonus here in my envelope after i get off the show. >> well, i appreciate you on this employee appreciation day i'm not your boss but i do appreciate it. >> i do appreciate you, lauren. we will see you next monday. have a great weekend. last night's debate full of insults, interruptions, yoga, hand, hear the moment that had one moderator telling candidates can we just do better then this. we can be better people. and another brazen robbery in center city, near

donating something after she's dead. >> and we will track this wintry mix coming through our area not only in wilmington but unless new jersey where it is starting to pile up. >> they have 3 inches already in some new jersey shore points. >> yes, but here at fourth and market it looks beautiful. >> we have a little snow globe going to day. >> we do. >> hi. >> no one is looking. >> we have a wave. >> is what up. >> so, here's sue. >> yes, it is not a major storm, that is not making a mess. it is in many places this morning and is there bus stop buddy ready for snow at the bus stop. temperatures in the 20's and 30's and we are seeing snow fall, in many places, in our viewing area, with the exceptions being lancaster county, berks county but further south you go more snow you are seeing especially along delaware beach and jersey shore there. here's what it looks like outside our window at fourth and market. flakes are flying, 32 degrees,
7:30 am
it feels like 24. visibility is a big issue. that will slow you down, a mile and quarter in wilmington, less in millville and wildwood, half mile in atlantic city. this snowfall is making it hard to see, only three-quarters of a mile at philly international, so call ahead to make sure your flight is on time. 30 degrees to start, snowy start, sun will return by lunchtime here in philadelphia, maybe not at jersey shore but here, and we will probably make to it 40 degrees, wind will pick up for a time and then it calms down tonight for the first friday, festivities, that you may be enjoying today, that is your planner for friday, weekend forecast and warm up next week all coming up, so bob kelly, i see an accident, tell us where it is. >> a lot going on, 7:30. folks are stepping out they will see the snow but it is not sticking to the road surface and not respecting what mother nature is serving up for breakfast here. here's a live look all lanes temporarily blocked on i-95 southbound right here before the state line.
7:31 am
this fellow got spun around and backed down into the embankment, luckily the guardrail was there otherwise it could be worse but again, an example of a traffic being halted here on i-95. look at that poor visibility who took the vine expressway. the it is in there somewhere but we got a big heavy squall line coming through center city coming through right now. thirty-five on the bennie. look close liz do you see how snow is just blowing sideways here. although it is visibly hitting the car and windshield it is not sticking to the road surface, road that were treated and that dealt with some salt earlier today. here's a live look at shaders route 73 in maple shade, wet roads but clearing the snow off of the have roof of your car, trunk, hood of the car before you roll out of the driveway this morning. northbound i-95 an accident at route 202 in wilmington, southbound i-95, crawling at 5 y much academy through girard but a disabled tractor trailer
7:32 am
in the center lane in the work zone and sue mentioned about delays at the airport philly international checking in with at least 17 minute delays. check with the airline, we will see domino effect there at delays at philly international. the mass transit septa says so far, so good, mike, back to you. myth rahm any. >> let me put it very i am many: if we republicans choose donald trump as our nominee the prospects for a safe, prosperous future are greatly diminish. >> well, he got a lot more fiery then. that that is a delicate clip from the whole press conference yesterday. mitt romney chimes in on the state of the republican party hearst before last night's debate in detroit calling out front runner donald trump. joining to talk about this and state of the republican party, political science professor mark, from the university of pennsylvania, and professor rich harris from rutgers camden. both of you, welcome to the show.
7:33 am
>> thank you you. >> so why bring out mitt romney. what was the point of that. >> i think he is trying to call out the republicans who don't want trump around a message that they need to come together the problem though he didn't tell us who to come together around. he goes out and said we should unify but unify around cruz, rubio, kasich. >> so the republican establishment, oh, my gosh it could be donald trump come cleveland time. >> i think what is going on here is that mitt romney's speech was really the opening in the coordinated effort to put the brakes on trump's momento and you can see issues that mitt romney keyed up were pick up and driven home in the debate. >> even john mccain weighed in from the 2008 race. you you knew that would be one of the first questions in detroit last night from the moderators. what did you think of the mitt romney's comments donald trump.
7:34 am
>> well look he was a failed candidate. he should have beaten president obama very easily. he failed miserablely. it was an embarrassment to everybody including the republican party. >> you knew that was coming. it was keyed up for him to hit a home run on that one. they were both losers. >> i think there are a lot of people that respect mitt romney but a lot of people who were frustrated how he ran in 2012a lot of those people are trump supporters and that will be an issue that mitt romney, john mccain and republican establishment are trying to deal with this. >> people say trump supporters they don't want to hear from mitt romney, do they. >> no, i don't think they do but what i think is going on is that the republican establishment if we can use that term has basically determined that they are not going to be able to find a candidate to go around and stop him dead in his tracks. you can see the tragedy laid out by mitt romney.
7:35 am
if you are in florida vote for rubio. if you are in ohio, vote for kasich. what they are aiming for is i think either a brokered convention and contested convention. >> you have been studying politics for years. i will play this clip and have you respond to the chaos last night. >> well, let's hear, donald. >> don't worry about it, little marco. you want -- >> you have to be better than that. >> we have to do better than this, guys. he called him little rubio all night. have you seen anything like this. >> no, i haven't. not on a don't stage like this. you i think unfortunately that is rubio in the sense playing on trump's home turf. there is an old saying you never want to get in the fight with a pig because you never might win and you might be muddy and that is what happen.
7:36 am
>> they are talking about their hand and screaming at each other. have have you seen anything like it. >> but i think it was a wise strategy by trump. what are we talking about right now, we're not talking about his policy, substance and that is exactly what trump was trying to do good we don't get much policy out of that guy. >> here's cruz, this is about cruz, listen. >> i understand that folks who are supporting donal right now you are angry, angry at washington and he uses angry receipt rick but for 40 years donald has been part of the corruption in washington that your angry about. >> calling him corrupt? what would you do if you were advising these guys like rubio, kasich and cruz, how do you put a dent in his campaign, he is so farrah head in the polls. >> corruption is a good line
7:37 am
to attack. the trump university is a good line of attack. i think kasich was trying to present himself in a way that seemed more civilized, adults perhaps. those are all good lines. but he is so farrah head, they are just not optimistic that they will succeed. >> like a big block of ice, donald trump, you chip away until cleveland. >> that strategy might work had they started in november. >> true. >> another important dimension to this campaign that makes it really different is trump has really taken digital technology and social media to a whole new level and so this sort of sustained a attack and what is coming down the pike with these new attacks planning an air war against trum in florida that is how campaign used to be run. trump is running and whole new kind of campaign. >> he talk all day long in twitter when he sees something negative about himself. >> thank you both for coming
7:38 am
in. >> you bet. >> excuse me. >> i'm choking up here. alex, another smash and grab. >> yes, in center sit why i suspect who pulled off this robbery at the this store, well, they are professionals.
7:39 am
7:40 am
7:41 am
we have breaking news. >> medical examiner says that immersion and water and drug intoxication, led to bobbi kristina brown's death. >> they say marijuana a and alcohol were involved in the death along with medications used for sedation, or to treat anxiety. of course, bobbi kristina brownies daughter of the bobby brown and late whitney houston found unresponsive in the bathtub in her atlanta home last january. >> yeah. >> well, she died, at a hospice, months later, and authorities in georgia, never provided details of the exact cause of death because of a superior court's order to seal the autopsy information. but a judge granted a request by local media down there, to unseal those results and new we have them. investigators claimed unceiling those documents could jeopardize a death
7:42 am
investigation. bobbi kristina would have turn 23 years old today. >> so very sad. >> her birthday. >> 7:42. >> well, it happened again, in center city, just two weeks, remember when they went in the blooming dale's outlet, by liberty place. >> ten of them. >> they stole $2,000 worth of jeans and then ran out. >> yes. >> now police are investigating another same type of scenario but at a different store and this is in rittenhouse. >> about a block away from the blooming dale's, 17th and well nut basically, bleed at the security camera here. three people run in here, two men and a woman. that is the store called vince, right there at 17th and walnut. it about 5:00 he clock. they grabbed everything they could get and they were in and out in about two minutes. police believe, that the two men and a woman were professionals because they likely cased the store before hitting it. in fact they pulled up, in front, that is their car, ran into it, two minutes later and
7:43 am
then took off. they have expensive clothes in there. i was telling you i was looking at line at some of their stuff. a gray t-shirt was $150. >> looking on line or in store shopping. >> i have in the been in vince. >> let me see your feet. >> big announcement by u.s. soccer star brandy chastane, lets put up that image of her when she ripped off her jersey when they won the whole thing. the brandy chastane, what she is doing, what she is donate to go science, to help, other players. your daughter wants to stay organic.

7:47 am
